Abstract:Narative theory was put forward in the twentieth century in France. In recent years, its extensive application and rapid development in the field of display design have atacted widespread attention of researchers and become a hot topic of research. To enhance the advantage and value of applying narrative theory in display design, the consistency between narative theory and display design in terms of constituent clements, bchavioral processes and fundamental purposes was analyzed by comparing their related theorics and a conclusion that it was feasible to apply narative theory to display design was made. By combining with specific cases, the important infuence of narrative structure, narrative space- time view, narrative thinking. and narrative techniqucs of narative theories on the construction of spatial form, theme expression, spatial artistic conception, and emotional experience of the audience for display design was further explored to apply narrative theory in display design more fectively. As an important way to express purpose and intention, narative theory is popular to designers and has become an important innovative approach and creative strategy.
