Abstract:Based on Typology, the study sheds light on boundary morphology of old residential area and the influence on living quality and space vitality from the perspective of the complexity and contradictions of space formation and characteristics. It aims to explore the essential reasons of urban texture breakage, low space vitality and design blind angle through analyzing the functions, forms, and scales of the boundary areas. With the case study of Fengle neighborhood, it lays particular emphasis on the enhance urban intentions and dimension of different types of boundary space by means of landscape design in terms of space structure, elements scale and design dimensions. It encourages the positive connections of internal and external space, reshaping the negative corner formatting during the urban innovation and rethinking about the discussion between gated and open community.
