Abstract:The traditional costumes of the Yao ethnic group in China are exquisitely crafted, with harmonious colors and diverse forms. Among them, the Yao Taoist Costume, as an important component of the traditional costume system of the Yao ethnic group in China, plays an important role in the inheritance of their beliefs and culture. Based on the research methods of costume studies, semiotics, and anthropology, the work aims to analyze the clothing structure, patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the Yao ethnic Taoist Costume, as well as the symbolic signifier and signified contained, sort out the interaction between the ancient natural worship, ancestor worship, and the Taoist deity system and ritual system later introduced by the Yao ethnic group and deeply describe the phenomenon of ethnic cultural integration and convergence reflected in the elements of the Yao Taoist Costume, aiming to provide new directions and new language materials for the inheritance of Yao costume culture and the exchange and integration of ethnic culture.
